ASABA/Nigeria: The wedding of Innocent Oborevwori, son of Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and Tobore Arigbodi, daughter of Chief Brodericks Arigbodi, attracted a large gathering of political leaders, traditional rulers, business executives and other prominent Nigerians in Asaba on Saturday.
The marriage was solemnised at Living Faith Church (Winners’ Chapel), Ibusa Road, Asaba, before guests proceeded to the Event Centre for the reception.
The ceremony drew serving and former governors, members of the National Assembly, government officials, traditional rulers, religious leaders and leading figures from Nigeria’s corporate sector, cutting across political and regional affiliations.
Among the governors at the ceremony were Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, Sokoto State Governor Ahmad Aliyu and Niger State Governor Mohammed Umar Bago.
The gathering also included Delta State Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme, Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State Patricia Obila and the Deputy Governor of Kano State, alongside other senior public officials and political leaders.
National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, was also among the guests, while former Delta governors, Chief James Ibori and Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, attended the ceremony.
Other political figures present included Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Chief Festus Keyamo; Minister of State for Health, Dr Tunji Alausa; Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas; Senator Ede Dafinone; Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor; APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka; former speakers of the state assembly and members of the National Assembly.
The traditional institution was represented by prominent monarchs, including the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, HRM Major General Felix Mujakperuo (retd.); the Olu of Warri, HRM Atuwatse III; and the Dein of Agbor, HRM Keagborekuzi II, among others.
The business community was also represented by Chairman of Access Bank Plc, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede; Managing Director of Zenith Bank Plc, Dr Adaora Umeoji; Managing Director of United Bank for Africa, Oliver Alawuba; and Managing Director of PremiumTrust Bank, Emmanuel Efe Emefienem, among other corporate executives.
At the church service, the State Pastor, Pastor Shiyanbade Adekunle, counselled the newlyweds to approach marriage with wisdom, mutual respect, commitment and sacrificial love.
Adekunle described wisdom as the “working capital of marriage” and encouraged the couple to depend on their faith and the teachings of the Bible as they navigate the different stages of married life.
At the reception, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State served as chairman of the occasion and congratulated the couple and their families.
Sani said marriage represented more than the union of two individuals, describing it as a coming together of families, histories and shared aspirations.
He urged Innocent and Tobore to build their home around friendship, sacrifice, mutual respect, understanding and love, while wishing them a peaceful and fulfilling marital life.
The wedding followed the couple’s traditional marriage held on August 26 at the Arigbodi family residence in Isiokolo, Ethiope East Local Government Area, where the union was celebrated according to Urhobo customs and traditions.
The Asaba ceremony subsequently brought together political, traditional, religious and business leaders from different parts of the country to celebrate the union of the two families.
