ASABA/Nigeria: The recently published 2024 audited report of the Delta State Government has been described as a clear testament to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s commitment to transparency, good governance, and prudent management of public funds.
Speaking on a public affairs radio programme monitored in Asaba on Thursday, the Director General of the Delta State Bureau for Communications and Orientation, Barrister Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, said the audit publication in national dailies signals a deliberate effort by the Oborevwori administration to sustain public trust and accountability.
Oghenesivbe commended the State Commissioner for Finance, Sir Fidelis Tilije, for the strict enforcement of the state’s automated accounting system introduced by the governor, adding that the government remains focused on socioeconomic transformation, infrastructure development, peace building, and security.
He highlighted that major infrastructural projects were ongoing across urban and rural areas, including the dualisation of the 143km Ughelli-Asaba highway, the construction of three mega flyovers, and the release of billions of naira for projects in all 25 local government areas. He also noted that over 277,000 Deltans have benefited from the state’s D-CARES welfare and empowerment programmes.
On the upcoming 2027 general elections and the rise in opposition coalitions, the Bureau Chief maintained that Oborevwori’s performance within two years has exceeded public expectations and will serve as a solid platform for reelection.
“Governor Oborevwori has redefined leadership in Delta State. His performance has earned him several national awards, including Best Governor of the Year, Best in Infrastructure Development, and Best in Good Governance,” Oghenesivbe said.
Responding to questions on the spread of development across the state, particularly concerns from Udu Local Government Area, he noted that the administration’s policies are driven by equity and fairness to all three senatorial districts.
He cited Works Commissioner Charles Aniagwu’s recent statement on completed and ongoing projects in Udu, including the Aladja Floating Market, which houses 220 shops with full lighting for day and night operations.
Oghenesivbe dismissed fears about opposition coalitions ahead of the 2027 elections, expressing confidence in both President Bola Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori’s chances of victory in Delta State.
“The 2024 audited account confirms the governor’s flawless leadership. Deltans are satisfied with his performance. With or without opposition coalitions, President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori will sweep the 2027 elections in Delta,” he said.
