Oboro Assures Urhobo Nation Of Quality Representation

EFFURUN/Nigeria: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Delta Central Senatorial aspirant, Hon Chief Evelyn Oboroh has assured the people of Delta Central Senatorial District and the Urhobo Nation of quality representation if given the mandate to serve at the Senate in 2019.

The Uvwie born politician gave the assurance in her address during her consultative visit to Urhobo Peoples Integrity Organization (UPIO) at Ekpan, Uvwie Local Government Area, last weekend.

Oboroh listed her laudable achievements in her political career right from her days as a councilor in Uvwie Local Government Council, Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council and present position as member representing Sapele/Okpe/Uvwie Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives.

She noted that before her election as a member of the Green Chambers of the National Assembly, there was the wrong notion that a woman could not be a parliamentarian in Urhobo land and that there was nothing good in the Federal House of Representatives.

“I was advised to contest for the house of assembly seat instead of that of federal house of representatives seat but when I got there (Federal House of Representatives) I made the difference with the constituency projects and enactment of laws for the benefit of the Okpe/Sapele/Uvwie Federal Constituency and indeed Urhobo Nation”, she stated.

While emphasizing that senators do not lead the Urhobo people, she stated that it was traditional rulers that rule Urhobo Nation and that the duties of senators were to enact laws and attract developments to their people at the Senate.

Oboroh maintained that she was trusted and had also been tested, saying that she had what it takes to give the Urhobo Nation quality representation at the Senate.

“The Urhobo Nation has tried the men at the Senate and their results are there for us to see. The Urhobo Nation should try a woman this time around and see the difference. I offer myself for the Urhobo Nation and I promise to make the difference at the Senate in 2019”, Hon Oboro said.

The President of UPIO, Dr Ebenezer Okorodudu, commended Hon Oboroh for the visit as he called on the Urhobos to ensure that they send their first eleven to the National Assembly in 2019 considering the ongoing agitation for restructuring of the country.

He further explained that UPIO was formed for the positive transformation of the Urhobo Nation, insisting that UPIO was a think tank organization and not a political jamboree.

Highpoint of the occasion was a prayer said for Hon Evelyn Oboroh by a member of UPIO and former Chairman of Ethiope West Local Government Council, Chief Isaac Udju.
