Ochor Commends Okowa, as DESOPADEC Opens Bids for 2016 Projects

The commendation was made by Hon Ochor Chris Ochor, the Executive Director Social Services Development, in the board of the Delta State Oil Development Areas Commission, DESOPADEC.
Hon Ochor who made the commendation in Warri in an interview with the press during the official opening of Bids for the commissions 2016 Mega Projects, said the government under Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa has achieved a lot despite the paucity of funds, because of the recession in the country.Makinde

OpeningMaking reference to the physical development of the state, based on statistics available, the government has touched all the senatorial districts. Schools had been renovated, roads constructed and renovated, hospitals, human capacity development and the policies to attract investment to the state, all had been effectively pursued by this government.

The executive Director said to compliment the work of the state government in fulfilling the SMART Agenda Policy, the commission is doing all that is within its mandate to develop the mandate areas.
“Opening of the Bid for 2016 projects in the commission today is in continuation of the state government SMART Agenda”.
“Now that we had successfully opened the bids, the best contractors will be picked to execute the project based on best practices”.
He used the occasion to also called on the people from the mandate areas to be patient, as the different programmes earmarked by the commission for 2016, will be touched, especially the vital ones that will give direct impact positively to the people.
Speaking earlier, the Managing Director Olorogun Williams Makinde, who opened the bids has said that the projects were lined up for implementation in the 2016 budget, and it is 21 mega projects in accordance with the provisions of the Public Procurement Act.
Olorogun Williams Makinde said that successful bidders should be ready to execute the contracts within the approved time frame as only qualified bidders will be chosen.
He advised members of the bid committee to be transparent and fast track the process to ensure early awards of the contracts.
“The committee will check for bidders with the most experience on similar contracts, time of completion and tender sums,’’ the managing Director/CEO he said.
The bids opening ceremony were attended by representatives of the 66 Contractors that bided for the 21 projects of the commission expressed satisfaction for the transparent process of the bid opening ceremony.
