Ochor Congratulates Oborevwori, Calls for Unity Following Supreme Court’s Verdict on Delta Governorship
ASABA/Nigeria: The immediate past Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Ochor Christopher Ochor, has lauded the historic ruling by the Supreme Court, which solidly affirmed Governor Sheriff Oborivwori’s mandate in the 2023 Delta State Governorship Election. Describing it as a “landmark victory,”.
Ochor while congratulating the Governor, asserted that the decision reflects “the people’s confidence in Governor Oborivwori’s leadership” and marks a pivotal moment in the state’s political landscape.
In an official statement released today, Rt. Hon Ochor underscored the profound significance of the Supreme Court’s decision in resolving the legal disputes surrounding the Delta Governorship. He highlighted the trust and confidence bestowed upon Governor Oborivwori by the people of Delta State, characterizing it as “a testament to divine favour towards the people and government of Delta State.”
Responding to the appeal presented by the APC candidate, Ovie Omo-Agege, challenging the gubernatorial contest’s outcome, Rt. Hon Ochor emphasized the unalterable nature of God’s will.
Amidst the jubilation following this decisive victory, he appealed to all stakeholders and citizens, irrespective of political affiliations, to unite for the greater good of the state.
Stressing the imperative to transcend partisan lines, Rt. Hon Ochor urged a collective effort to propel Delta State into an era of progress and development. He extended his call to opposition parties, including the All Progressive Congress (APC), Social Democratic Party (SDP), and Labour Party (LP), represented by figures such as Senator Ovie Omg-Agree, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi, and Mr. Ken Pella for a collaborative approach, urging them to align their agendas with the current administration for the collective goal of fostering a stronger and more prosperous Delta State.
The former Deputy Speaker passionately advocated for a future where the collective aspirations and welfare of every Deltan surpass political differences. He encouraged the embracement of unity, cooperation, and collaboration.
