Obiaruku: In a bid to improve the leaving standard of people of Ukwuani Local Government Area, the Executive Director Social Services Development, Hon Ochor Chris Ochor has donated set of computer and deep freezer to two persons in the area.
Presenting the items to the recipients, Miss Ishioma Eleh of ward 6, Amai and Miss Nkechi Metitiri of Ward 9, Obiaruku, through his representatives, Hon Ochor said he is doing it based on his personal philosophy of showing people how to fish. Saying that with the items he expects their business to improve.
According to him, one of the recipients, a graduate of the Federal Government, Sure-P program, Miss Ishioma Eleh, when he was the Transition Chairman of the LGA has so encouraged him that he had decided to give her more to be able to meet up with the volume of her customers.
“Miss Eleh has encouraged me, and I need to encourage her. She was one of the graduates and recipients of the Federal Government Sure-P Programme, when I was the Transition Chairman. She had kept faith, and she had won my praises”. He said.
While appealing to the people of the area to bear with the Okowa’s government because of the state of the economy, he said that he will do more empowerment as time goes on, and others will benefit.
“More people will be attended to through the different ways we had planned”.
He called on the beneficiaries to use the items judiciously, and ensure that the economic effect is not only seen in their own life, but that of their families and the community where they come from.
Miss Ishioma Eleh was giving a set of computer and printer, while Miss Nkechi Metitiri received a deep freezer to boost her cold room business.
In a similar development, the faithfuls of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ward 4 in the LGA, has received 20 office chairs donated by Hon Ochor Ochor, to be used at the party office, in Obinomba.
Receiving the chairs, the ward Chairman, Mr. Anthony Okwoye thanked him for keeping to his promise to furnish the office, called on other well meaning politicians in the area to assist the party with their own little way.
Representing Hon Ochor at the events are, his Special Assistant, Chief Alfred Onyewosa, Hon Gabriel Uti, and Deacon Moses Osemeke.
