The Executive Director, Social Services Development on the board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, (DESOPADEC), Hon. Ochor Chris Ochor has hailed the Delta State Governor, Senator Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa on his development plans in the state.
Hon Ochor made this statement on Wednesday, 13 of January, 2016, in an interview with newsmen at the end of the one-day stakeholders summit on vandalism of oil and gas facilities and installations, with the theme, “Security and environmental Challenges in Oil and Gas Sector in Delta State- The Way forward”, at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) conference hall, Effurun.
The Executive Director, maintained that the governor knows that without security in the state the economy will not move forward, and that was one of the main reason the summit was organised to brainstorm on a way out of the continuous vandalism of oil and gas facilities in the state, especially as the sector is the main stream of income to the state.
Speaking further, he said that the engaging of the communities to proffer solutions to the problem means that the governor has the people, especially those from where the oil and gas is coming from in his economic agenda, which is prosperity for all Deltans.
On the issues raised during the summit, he says that since the summit was on oil and gas, the DESOPADEC will look into the various opinions, so that a better and an understanding synergy will be formed with the mandate areas of the commission.
However, he called on Deltans to continue their support for the government to meet up with the set agenda of moving the state forward, saying,
“This government has a very good and dynamic economic development plan for the state as can be seen from the various programmes initiated since inception”. He concluded.
