Ochor Ochor Calls on Ndokwa People to Promote the Cultural Heritage of the Area

The people of Ndokwa ethnic nationality has been called to see the culture of the area as part of their life style that needs to be promoted and preserved for the future generation to know and learn from.
The call was made recently by Hon. Ochor Chris Ochor, the Executive Director, Social Services Development, on the board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (Hon. Ochor Chris Ochor,) weekend during the 4th edition of the Nwa Ada Ndokwa Cultural Beauty Pageant held in Iyemere Civic Centre Obiaruku, Ukwuani LGA of Delta State.
According to Hon Ochor, Culture is learned and shared human patterns or models for day- to-day living. These patterns and models pervade all aspects of human social interaction, it is mankind’s primary adaptive mechanism, and for this the people of Ndokwa has no option but to ensure that the culture of the Ndokwa ethnic nationality is not put aside for other foreign cultures.
Hon Ochor while congratulating the organisers of the event, Tisova Relief Concepts for the idea of cultural beauty pageant, called on them to ensure that majority of the activities of the event are centred on the culture of the Ndokwa people.
“Let the people witness our value as a nation, let it be felt and displayed wherever you go, the annual event should be a display of the all year round programme of activities, but it should also be used to display expose those that can sing, dance, speak and do things which is known to be our identity”. He said.
“So let our value system be preserved, and our value systems are what we are known for, which is our culture, it must be preserved, it must be promoted at every occasion, it must not be allowed to die, and to do this the youths who are the leaders of tomorrow must know what the Ndokwa cultural value system is and sell it to the world”. He concluded.
The Initiator of the annual event, Miss Vallen Oseh, in her speech gave thanks to their sponsors especially the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), for sponsoring the 2015 edition, said the Nwa Ada Ndokwa Beauty Pageant is a pageant with focus on the girl child in Ndokwa, was conceived to bring back to reality the place of young female folks before the advent of colonial rule, that has affected negatively on the cultural value of the Ndokwa people.
The occasion which witnessed a huge audience, saw the Nwa Ada Utagba-Uno, Miss Chiejene Udoka Peace, a 200 level student of delta State University from the Department of Chemistry Education as the winner of the 2015 edition
