ASABA/Nigeria: Olorogun (Barr) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, the Spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections in Delta State, has extended a heartfelt appeal to Ambassador Blessed Ughere, the newly elected Youth Wing President of the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), and his executive team. Oghenesivbe implored them to consistently place the interests of Urhobo youth above all else and to foster a harmonious relationship with the global parent body.
In a congratulatory message delivered on a Saturday, Oghenesivbe emphasized the imperative for the UPU youth executive body to refrain from unprovoked verbal or media attacks on constituted authorities, including the government of the day and Urhobo leaders and stakeholders. This, he insisted, would pave the way for the unfettered realization of the sociocultural, economic, and other programs embedded in the UPU’s constitution.
Oghenesivbe cited Governor Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori’s electioneering campaigns, during which he unequivocally articulated his administration’s commitment to youth entrepreneurship, skills acquisition, and human capacity development. The Governor’s promise to actively involve the youth in governance has set a promising stage for the Urhobo youth.
The PDP Spokesperson urged Ambassador Blessed Ughere to leverage his legitimate powers to support the state government and the Governor, aligning the UPU youth with the laudable objectives of the M.O.R.E agenda, thereby enabling the youth to benefit across Delta State and beyond.
Oghenesivbe also commended Very Rev Dr. Chris Ekabo, the Chairman of the UPU Youth Wing Election Committee, for ensuring a peaceful, transparent, free, and fair election process. He praised the clergyman’s exemplary leadership qualities and his remarkable role as an accomplished Catholic Priest.
In his closing remarks, Oghenesivbe sent his congratulations to Ambassador Blessed Ughere and the newly sworn-in executive members, urging them to prioritize the interests of Urhobo youth and the Urhobo nation above personal and mundane interests. He stressed their responsibility to work closely with the parent body and the President General of UPU worldwide, to achieve the organization’s goals and represent the multifaceted interests of Urhobo youth globally.
Furthermore, Oghenesivbe called on the newly elected UPU youth leaders to refrain from unwarranted verbal or media attacks and to create opportunities for robust engagements with authorities at the federal and state levels. These collaborations, he asserted, are essential for the realization of the Union’s sociocultural, economic, and constitutional programs.
The PDP Spokesperson expressed confidence in Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s youth-friendly leadership and urged Ambassador Blessed Ughere to collaborate with the state administration and other legitimate authorities worldwide in the development of Urhobo nation and its youth.
In closing, Oghenesivbe offered his prayers for Ambassador Blessed Ughere and his new executive team, hoping that they would lead with wisdom, leadership skills, and humility, while serving the Urhobo nation with integrity.
