Sapele: The people of Ogirisen community, Elume district in Sapele Local Government area of Delta State have inaugurated eleven man committee members to run the affairs of the community after wrestling power from the former chairman Mr. Etieyibo Moses who was there for years.
Members of the committee who were sworn-in by the most senior man of the community are Mr Sunday Mietehe(chairman) Mr. Happy Ajokporise(vice chairman) Mr Odjegba Joseph( Secretary) Mr Etieyibo Charles (treasurer) Prince Kingsley Oberuruaria(PRO).
Others are Mr Inikoro Benjamin( Assistant fin. Secretary ) Isaac Eyitemi( Auditor) Mr Joseph Agborodo(Provost) Mr Orogho Happy( financial secretary) and Otaroghene Jeremiah(town crier).
The speaker of the Delta state house of assembly Chief Hon Monday Igbuya who was represented by his special assistant Hon. Morrison Ikoyo advised the newly sworn members to leave above board by discharging their duties effectively pledging that he will use his good office to support the community at all times.
Chief igbuya commended the people of Ogirisen community for their support to the Delta state government, appealing that they should remain calm and be patient with the Senator Okowa’s led administration who has the interest of the state at heart.
He assured them further that, the governor despite the lean resources coming to the state, the government of Delta state will do its best by meeting the needs of the people of Delta state, adding that with their prayers, support and corporation the sky will be the limit of everyone in the oil rich state.
In his address soon after their swearing in, the new chairman Mr Sunday Mietehe said his swearing in as the new leader of Ogirisen community is a call to service, which he must actualise by meeting the yearnings and inspirations of his people within the time frame of his administration.
He emphasised that every government has a specified and limited period of time to contribute to the good and development of his people, thereafter handover the reins of leadership to a new government , a new phenomenon that has ushered into Ogirisen community which invariable has been vested on his shoulders.
Mr. Mietehe maintained further that Ogirisen community is a work in progress gifted with abundant land mass, natural resources like timber, cash crops like oil palms which is known to be a peaceful community free from hatred and molestation, adding that his administration is focused on development which is poised to work assiduously to promote the overall development, unity and progress of Ogirisen community.
He assured further that his government will interface with the federal, state and local government including other relevant agencies to establish people oriented programmes like good public primary schools where their children will receive good quality and qualitative education, modern health care, creative centres to accommodate and administer good services to members of the public, construction of Ogirisen old road, and many other needs will be brought into the community.
The new chairman assured the people that his administration will run an open door policy where individuals and cooperate organizations can contribute prayerfully, morally and financially to all aspect of their initiatives , while commending the past administration for their effort in transiting the government peacefully and settling all issues without violence.
He also appreciated the elders, men, women and youths of Ogirisen for their unalloyed support including members of Edebi and other families for their support and good will.
