WARRI/Nigeria: It was a carnival like gathering in Warri, Sunday 18th March, 2018 as Hon. Mike Eze formally took over the reins of leadership as the new President General of Ohaneze Delta South, Delta Central zones of the state.
The occasion was colourful in every sense of the word as Ohaneze groups from Sapele, Adeje, Okpe, Warri, Effurun and others across Delta South and Delta Central senatorial District thronged the venue of the occasion in their numbers to pledge support to the new leader.
The occasion was quite historic as it ushers a new template of leadership for Ohaneze which had been embroiled in myriad of controversies in the recent past.
The visibly elated President General, Hon. Mike Eze promised to launch Ohaneze on the path of unfettered growth, even as he called on the members to support his developmental blue print for the good of all.
Fielding questions from journalist, Hon. Eze expressed joy at the success of the occasion, saying that peace has finally returned to Ohaneze, a pan Igbo socio-cultural organization after it had been enmeshed in crisis over the years. He described his new office as a new beginning for Igbos in Delta south and Delta central, saying that the era of bickering, infighting and mudslinging is over. He thanked God for making the occasion possible.
Describing the tasks before his office as very huge, Hon. Eze said he is determined to wither the storm by the grace of God, saying,” after one or two years, I will assess my performance in terms of achievements and beat my chest for a laudable achievement.”
Continuing, he said, “there is a statement that says ‘the Igbos are difficult to lead’, but with God’s given wisdom and prayers, I am strongly looking forward to making a good President General of Ohaneze.
“Though the challenges may be huge, I believe I can navigate through them to deliver good leadership for my people by relying on the wisdom of God.”
He eulogized the press for setting the agenda for societal development and promised to interface with the media to promote his developmental template.
Speaking at the occasion, Eze Ndi-Igbo, Delta South and Delta Central, His Highness, (Sir) Peter Chukwu, said Ohaneze will move forward under the leadership of Hon. Mike Eze. He noted that the past administration was embroiled in contentious issues that limited its performance.
His words: The baton of leadership has moved to Ebonyi state and we have chosen the right leader in the person of Hon. Mike Eze. Ohaneze will move forward this time; it will progress fully. The last administration did not do well due to the challenges it encountered, resulting from infighting and avoidable rancour, but with the new President General taking over the mantle of leadership, we hope to get to the promise land this time,”
Hon. Mike Eze is a business magnate and hails from Ebonyi state. He took over as President General of Ohaneze Delta South and Delta Central from the immediate past President Genaral, Chief Jude Chiedozie who hails from Enugu state. The tenure is four-years.
