ASABA/Nigeria: Mr. Isaac Okoh, chairman of Hon. Ngozi Okolie’s think tank team, has admitted that the lawmaker has failed to execute meaningful projects for the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency. This startling confession, coupled with an earlier statement from Mr. Osita Biose about Hon. Okolie’s inexperience in legislative politics, has intensified calls for his recall.
The think tank chair revealed that community-proposed projects were excluded from the federal budget due to what he described as Hon. Okolie’s incompetence. Constituents have also accused the lawmaker of being disconnected from the electorate, highlighting his refusal to hold direct consultations or organize town hall meetings as evidence of neglect.
Adding to the dissatisfaction, Mr. Okoh alleged that none of Hon. Okolie’s constituency offices are functional, further diminishing the lawmaker’s ability to engage with his constituents. Critics argue that this failure reflects a lack of commitment to the tenets of representative democracy.
Reports of alleged mismanagement of constituency allowances and unresolved accusations regarding Hon. Okolie’s activities have fueled further discontent. Constituents claim that attempts by Hon. Okolie’s press unit to take credit for projects executed by other entities are misleading and undermine public trust.
The Concerned Citizens of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, spearheading the recall effort, maintain that Hon. Okolie’s leadership has brought retrogression and embarrassment to the constituency.
The group, in a statement by its Chairman, Dr. Tony Curtis, and Secretary, Austin Madu have vowed to pursue the recall process to its conclusion. They have begun gathering signatures, insisting there is no turning back on removing a representative they consider ineffective and unfit for office.
