ASABA/Nigeria: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oshimili South Local Government Area, Delta State, has successfully conducted a congress to elect new executives, with Mr. Chike Ifesiokwu emerging as the Chairman and Mr. Chinedu Obodo as the Vice Chairman. The election, held in Asaba, saw the selection of 16 other executives, all under the watchful eyes of security agents, PDP officials, and representatives from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mr. Omorgbe Michael and Mrs. Orawo Justina.
Hon. Dada Okonji, the immediate past Chairman of the party in the area, addressed the gathering at the conclusion of the congress, highlighting the accomplishments of his tenure and expressing confidence in the newly elected officials. “During my tenure, we did well. We produced two PDP Governors, members of the House of Assembly from the party, and 20 councilors from the PDP in the recent election,” Okonji stated.
He went on to emphasize the importance of moral and financial support for the new executives, urging party members to ensure the success of the newly elected leadership. “To ensure the continued success of the party in the local government, it is imperative that the chairman receives enhanced financial support, surpassing the level I received during my tenure,” Okonji said. He noted that he had personally incurred significant expenses to drive the party’s progress, but warned that such an approach may not be sustainable for the current leadership.

“The rapid urbanization of Oshimili South underscores the urgency of this support, as its absence would create a critical gap in the party’s ability to effectively serve the community,” he added, stressing the need for a strong support system for the new executives.
Chief Edwin Uzor, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Peace Building and Conflict Resolution, also spoke at the event, praising the peaceful conduct of the congress. He expressed confidence in the ability of the newly elected executives to justify the trust placed in them by the party members.
The congress was attended by several prominent party figures, including Hon. Bridget Anyafulu, a member of the House of Assembly; Chief Obi Ezenyili, Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government; and Engr. Meka, Chairman of the Rural Development Agency (RDA), among others.
