ASABA/Nigeria: Former Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has expressed confidence that the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit will translate into new investment opportunities, saying the initiative provides a platform to connect investors with the state’s economic potential.
Okowa stated this while addressing participants at the 2026 Delta State Economic and Investment Summit in Asaba, where he said the gathering had created an opportunity to showcase Delta’s competitive strengths before local and international investors.
He noted that the state’s strategic location, expanding infrastructure, skilled workforce and investment-friendly policies have continued to make Delta attractive for business growth and private sector participation.
According to the former governor, discussions and presentations at the summit demonstrated that opportunities exist across multiple sectors of the economy, providing investors with a clearer picture of areas capable of delivering sustainable returns.
He expressed optimism that engagements initiated during the summit would result in concrete investments, create employment opportunities and stimulate broader economic activities across the state.
Okowa stressed that sustained economic growth depends not only on attracting investors but also on maintaining an environment where businesses can thrive through consistent policies, infrastructure development and collaboration between government and the private sector.
He commended the organisers for bringing together policymakers, entrepreneurs, investors and development partners to examine practical pathways for expanding investment and accelerating economic growth.
“The Delta State Economic and Investment Summit continues to demonstrate the immense potential of our state, strengthening investor confidence and positioning Delta as a destination of choice for sustainable investment and economic growth,” he said.
The summit featured discussions on agriculture, energy, solid minerals, transport infrastructure, digital innovation and the blue economy, with participants identifying the sectors as critical to expanding Delta State’s non-oil economy and attracting long-term private investment.
