Okowa Challenges Parents to Ensure Proper Upbringing of Children

UMUNEDE/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has challenged parents to ensure good moral upbringing for their children for a better society to be achieved.
The Governor made the call today, Friday  September 29, 2017 at the burial Mass of a grassroots politician, Hon. Simon Azubike, father of Mr Sylvester Azubuike, Special Assistant to the member representing Ika North-East Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Emeka Elekeokuri at the Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, Umunede, Delta State.
The Governor, who attended the funeral service in the company of his aides stated that financial wherewithal should not be the yardstick for measuring successful children.
“If every parent care for the moral of their children, we will have a better society,” the Governor said, adding, “the deceased lived a good life and they will not be abandoned, he achieved the best that he could and left a united family which we can feel with all the grand children all around.”
He continued, “as parents, you need to think about how to bring up your children, how will the children grow to be children we will be proud of? Always take interest in how your children are brought up.”
In his homily, Rev. Fr. Peter Chukwurah urged Christians to profess their faith through their actions, stating, “Let us be nice to one another, let us be good Christians, let us show the world that we are Christians through our actions.”
He continued, “we should behave like Christ, let us remove our hands from things that will soil our relationship with God, let us always remember that there is life after now.”
The Reverend Father disclosed that people have testified that the deceased lived a good Christian life asserting that Christians “should support and encourage one another with the assurance given by our Lord, Jesus Christ that He has gone to prepare a place for us; we have come to pray for God to accept the soul of our brother, we have also come to pray for ourselves because, we are all struggling in life, we should pray that God should give us the grace and wisdom to live a good life.”
“Today is for him, tomorrow, who knows? We should live our lives as if every minute is our last, we should endeavour to make heaven,” he stated.
