ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, has been commended for articulating strategies to ensure effective service delivery through the training and retraining of the state workforce in Mimistries , Departments and gencies (MDA) in the state.
A cross section of participants who spoke during a two – day workshop organised by the Delta State SERVICOM and Labour Relations on Principles of Service Delivery for Directors and SERVICOM officers, including Comrade (Evangelist) Augustine Akpede , Mr. Festus Oki and Mr. Chukwunalu Okuoyibo , said that the workshop was timely.
The respondents pledged to maximise the benefits of the training, adding that they would bring their experience in the workshop to bear in delivering their official duties.
Comrade (Evangelist) Akpede, particularly lauded the immediate past Special Adviser to the Governor on SERVICOM and Labour Relations, Comrade Mike Okeme, for his tremendous achievements as the man in charge of SERVICOM and Labour Relations.
In his presentation on Public Service Delivery and Nations Building, a management consultant, Mr. Eddie Amanam said that the essence of government’s was to serve the citizens’ needs , adding that service providers should shun poor services to the people.
Also in his presentation, Mr. Clement Dogara Stephen, stated that in public service, government needed to engage the citizens, stressing that government should initiate reforms designed to enhance quality education.
Mr. Stephen said that there should be indepth understanding of the customers were being served, just as he noted that there must be continuous interactions for effective service delivery.
He listed various drivers of the citizens’ satisfaction to include service delivery, time it took the service to be delivered, information available to customers to make decisions as well as empathy.
