OWA/Nigeria: Former Governor of Delta State and frontline All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial aspirant for Delta North, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, on Friday intensified his political consultations across the district, meeting with traditional rulers in what observers describe as a strategic move to strengthen stakeholder support ahead of the forthcoming elections.

The high-level engagement, held at the palace of the Obi of Owa, His Royal Majesty Emmanuel Efeizomor II, brought together prominent royal fathers from across Delta North and provided a platform for discussions on peace, unity, and the future development of the senatorial district.

According to a statement issued by Okowa, the meeting formed part of his ongoing consultations with critical stakeholders across the zone as he seeks to build consensus on issues affecting the people and the overall progress of Delta North.

The former governor said discussions with the monarchs focused on sustaining peace, strengthening unity among communities, and promoting socioeconomic development across the district.

He stressed that meaningful development can only be achieved when leaders and citizens work collectively in pursuit of the common good.

“Our discussions focused on the continued peace, unity, and development of Delta North, as well as the collective responsibility we share in advancing the interests and wellbeing of our people,” Okowa stated.

The former governor also underscored the importance of traditional institutions in governance, describing traditional rulers as critical partners in maintaining social harmony, preserving cultural values, and fostering grassroots development.

“I deeply value the wisdom, counsel, and leadership of our traditional rulers, whose role in preserving our culture, promoting harmony, and fostering development remains invaluable,” he said.

Okowa expressed appreciation to the royal fathers for the warm reception accorded him and his entourage, describing the interaction as productive and insightful.

He reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with traditional institutions and other stakeholders to advance the interests of Delta North and ensure greater prosperity for the people.

“I am grateful to Their Royal Majesties for the warm reception and insightful engagement, and I remain committed to working with all stakeholders in pursuit of a stronger, more united, and more prosperous Delta North,” he added.

Political observers view the meeting as a significant step in Okowa’s ongoing consultation drive, noting that traditional rulers remain influential voices in community affairs and often play a pivotal role in shaping public opinion and fostering unity across the district.
