ASABA/Nigeria: A group under the aegis of Okowa Fans Club (OFC), has pledged full support for the re-election of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State.
Rising from a meeting at Asaba, Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta state, the group called on the opposition to drop their 2019 ambition and wait till 2023.
The convener of the group, Dr. Patrick Enuneku, who reviewed the activities of the state Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, in the past three years in the areas of roads construction, infrastructural development, human capital development, job creation and other facets, affirmed that the governor has excelled in many areas of the state’s economy and so resolved to pass a vote of implicit confidence on him as a man deserving of another term in office.
Addressing OFC members during a stakeholders meeting Dr. Enuneku said ‘’The SMART Governor and ‘Road Master’ appellations for which he is famous all over Nigeria are well deserved, because has touched lives and aggregates the glory of a better Delta State. We cannot but stand solidly behind him for his re-election in 2019 because it can only get better with Okowa in the saddle. We are proud of his legacy of excellent and prudent management of the scarce resources available to the state.”
Continuing; “Considering all that he has achieved in the past three years under the austere economic condition occasioned by the recession visited on Nigeria because of the poor management of the nation by those at the helm of affairs, we remain eternally grateful to God Almighty for giving us a man of his class to navigate Delta State out of troubled waters despite poor allocation to the state.”
He added that: ‘’We assure His Excellency that he can count on the OFC for total mobilization of the state anytime, any day as his re-election campaigns gets under way. The youth are solidly behind him and we shall do everything democratically possible to ensure total victory for Okowa in 2019.”
He said group was initiative of seven persons who saw the needs to work for the second term of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, saying the group is a body of political leaders, youths and stakeholders from all the 25 Local Government Areas of Delta State.
A co-convener of the group, Hon. Meju Victor who also extolled the good leadership qualities of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, noted that the people of Delta North senatorial district had never had it so good in terms of infrastructures citing the massive drainage in Asaba as laudable.
He however, called on the members of OFC to go back to their ward ensure that they sensitise every eligible voters to get their permanent voters card to enable them vote for governor Okowa and other PDP candidates in the 2019 general elections.
The group took cognizance of the vast arrays of roads constructed and commissioned all over Delta State, the appointments made to give the political class a sense of belonging, the political and administrative maturity of His Excellency which has earned Delta State a place of honour amongst other states of the federation, his democratic credentials which, the group said, Okowa has brought to bear on the various national assignments he has handled within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) family as evidence of his excellent human resources management abilities hence they the votes of confidence on the governor.
The high lights of the enlarge meeting was the constitution of the senatorial, LGAs, and Wards Coordinators of the Okowa Fans Club.
