ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has announced the appointment of Mr. Chiedu Ebie as Secretary to State Government.
In a statement today, Friday, 31 May, 2019, signed by the Permanent Secretary, Government House, MR. Edwin Ogidi-Gbegbaje, Governor Okowa, also approved the following key appointments which take immediate effect: Olorugun David Edevbie, Chief OF Staff; and Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, Senior Political Adviser.
Mr. Ebie who is a lawyer by training, hails from Agbor-Alidinma in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State. Before his appointment as Secretary to the Delta State Government, was the immediate past Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education where he was instrumental to the massive infrastructural upgrade in public primary and secondary schools in the state.
Prior to his appointment as a Commissioner in 2015, Chiedu Ebie was the Managing Director/CEO of Millennium Oil & Gas Company Limited (MOGCL), where he lead a wholly domestically owned company operating under the umbrella of Nigeria’s indigenization program in exploring and producing hydrocarbon resources.
Mr. Ebie directed MOGCL operations in a way that integrated the strategic considerations of industry partners and stakeholders.
He attended the University of Benin, from 1986 to 1991 and graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and proceeded to the Nigeria Law School between 1991 to 1992 where he was called to the Nigerian Bar.
Prior to his becoming Managing Director of (MOGCL) and Mr Ebie had past experience guiding the boutique law firm Okonjo, Odiawa & Ebie – Legal Practitioners. He also played a vital role in launching This Day Newspapers, published by Leaders & Company Limited. The publication has achieved recognition as one of Nigeria’s leading news sources.
Away from work, Chiedu Ebie spends his time maintaining his health through exercise and healthful eating. He also enjoys following Manchester United, his favorite soccer team, though he remains loyal to his home country of Nigeria and follows the politics and current affairs of his country very closely.
The governor in the statement said that the appointments take immediate effect.
The new Secretary to the State Government replaces Chief Ovie Agas, who is from Ughelli, Delta Central.
With the appointment and two others, the state had now started its journey for a stronger Delta.
