Okowa Gives Reason Why Ayakoromo Bridge Had Not Been Completed, Says Contractor To Move to Site Soon

BURUTU/Nigeria: The Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, had apologised to the people of Burutu Local Government Area for the delay in the completion of the Ayakoromo Bridge, saying that the delay was from the Contractor, who was handling the project.

The Governor stated this today, December 27, 2022, when the Delta State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Campaign Council visited Burutu Local Government in continuation of its Local Government Area campaigns.

The Governor told them that the contract had been re-awarded to another construction company, Setraco, and the company will move to site to continue and complete the bridge in the first week of January 2023.

He, however, pointed out that apart from the yet-to-be-completed bridge the Government had touched the area with many developmental projects. He stated that the Local Government Area had benefited from the educational, health, and youth empowerment policies in the area.

“I know you had been agitating and calling for the completion of the Ayakoromo Bridge. I have to apologise on behalf of the Government. The delay was from the contractor. For that, we had re-awarded the contract to Setraco Construction Company. This is to ensure the completion and commissioning of the bridge.”

“The company will move to site next week to resume work on the bridge. It will be completed in no time.”

“However, you can tell, that Burutu has not been neglected in any way, as it had benefitted from other policies of the State Government. We have improved on the educational facilities in this area, so also is the health, youth empowerment, and many other areas.”

“We have also reciprocated your support by constructing concrete pavement of all internal roads in Burutu town; another 20.29-kilometre Obotobo 1– Obotobo 11– Sokebolou–Yokri road in Ogulagha Kingdom.

“We constructed a modern market and built schools in Burutu Town, Ogulagha and other communities.

“I, therefore urge you to vote for our party, the PDP. Vote for all our candidates, and the party will never disappoint you.” He concluded.

Also speaking the Party Chairman tasked the people on the need to ensure they vote to out hunger and suffering in the Country.

Others who spoke were the Deputy Governor, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro, the Governorship Candidate of the party, and Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the Director of the State Campaign Council, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, Local Government Party Chairman, Chief Braduce Angozi, and Chief P.Y Biakpara.
