ASABA/Nigeria: Vice-Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Governor of Delta, Sen. (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa has congratulated former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (retd.), on his 85th birth anniversary.
Okowa’s congratulatory message to Danjuma was contained in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Olisa Ifeajika, on Friday in Asaba.
The PDP Presidential running mate said Nigerians remained grateful to the retired general for his numerous interventions in the polity.
He lauded the elder statesman for his contributions to the unity and development of Nigeria when he fought alongside other patriots during the Nigeria civil war.
According to Okowa, Danjuma’s leadership trajectory over the years culminated in selfless service to the nation.
“You have had a very flourishing military career and on retirement you have built a versatile business empire contributing to the employment of our young ones.
“You have indeed written your name with Gold in the sands of our national history on account of your deep commitment to the welfare of the weak and vulnerable among us.
“On behalf of the government and people of Delta, I join the government and people of Taraba State and well meaning Nigerians in celebrating Gen. Danjuma’s special day as he turns 85 years”.
Okowa further remarked that Gen. Danjuma’s deep sense of patriotism as illustrated by his commitment to the course of the down trodden with his TY Danjuma Foundation has set him apart as a philanthropist of high repute.
“I wish you God’s blessings of good health and longer life to continue in the service of God and humanity,”
