WARRI/Nigeria: Religious leaders in Delta state had been charged to speak out against evils bedeviling the society.
The Governor Senator Ifeanyi Okowa made the call November 15, 2017 at the 30th anniversary celebration of Word of Life Bible Church, Warri.
According to the Governor, it is only by speaking out against the evil in the society that people will change their ways and engage in positive actions that will be of benefits to the society.
” I just imagine Nigeria today without the Church, it would have been very difficult for us to live; the Church is doing a lot in this country and still need to do a lot more,” the Governor said.
“It is not just about hearing the word, but using it to change our attitudes to our fellow man.” He added.
Governor Okowa used the occasion to call on parents to be actively involved in moulding the character of their children, asserting, “leadership is not just about government, it has to start from home, if only parents can learn and bring up good children, Nigerians will be a better place.”
“There is leadership in government, leadership in the church and leadership in our different businesses, we should utilise it by playing roles that will make the society better,” the Governor said at the occasion which had Chief Chukwuemeke Ezeife as Chairman.
Guest speaker at the event, Chief Sani Adetu, Chief Executive Officer of Algorithm Media limited, said most Nigerians will discover their potentials when there is steady power supply in the country and urged leaders of the country to be accountable to the people.
The Founder of Word of Life Bible Church, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, had in a brief sermon, thanked God for what he has done in the ministry, saying, “it is not every day that a church turns 30, so, we deserve to celebrate God’s love; I have been in the Ministry for 45 years, I have been preaching for 45 years, Word of Life is only 30, it is a day to be happy, a day to be fulfilled.”
At the event, prayers were offered for peace to reign in the country and the state, they also prayed for Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor.
