Olorogun Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe Affirms Harmony between Governor Oborevwori and Former Governor Okowa

ASABA/Nigeria: Spokesperson of Delta State Campaign Council of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olorogun Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe Esq, has dismissed rumors suggesting a rift between the immediate past governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON, and the state governor, Elder Sheriff Francis Oborevwori. Oghenesivbe emphasized that both leaders are in complete accord and united in their approach to governance.

In response to recent speculations by a section of the media, Oghenesivbe addressed the unfounded claims about a disagreement between Oborevwori and Okowa regarding the selection of potential nominees for lucrative political positions. He labeled the allegations as part of a deliberate smear campaign orchestrated by the main opposition party in the state. The intent behind these false reports is to create tension within the political landscape and falsely portray Okowa as the dominant figure in the state’s governance, even after completing his two terms as per the PDP power rotation agreement.

Oghenesivbe assured the public that Governor Oborevwori remains focused on delivering good governance in Delta State. He confirmed that the implementation of Oborevwori’s election promises, encapsulated in the M.O.R.E agenda, is well underway and will gain momentum once the governor assembles his cabinet in the near future. Oghenesivbe stressed that the appointment of cabinet members and political aides is within the constitutional purview of Governor Oborevwori. The decision-making process will involve consultations with party leaders, major stakeholders, and past governors, ensuring a harmonious and inclusive approach.

Furthermore, Oghenesivbe underscored that Governor Oborevwori was elected to serve the two tenures allocated to the Delta Central Senatorial District. Consequently, he emphasized the necessity of allowing the governor to discharge his responsibilities without undue interference from any quarter, including former Governor Okowa. Since assuming office on May 29th of this year, Oborevwori has demonstrated exemplary leadership, competency, and a firm grip on the affairs of the state, independent of past governors’ influence, including Governor Okowa.

Contrary to media reports, Oghenesivbe unequivocally stated that there is no conflict between Governor Oborevwori and former Governor Okowa regarding potential nominees for important political appointments. The claim that there is a disagreement over a proposed forty percent allocation is baseless and fabricated by elements loyal to the main opposition party. Oghenesivbe condemned these attempts to create artificial conflicts, asserting that Governor Oborevwori has the authority to make appointments to his cabinet and political aides without external influence. He reassured the public that Governor Oborevwori is fully in control and that there will be no contention or friction with Okowa or any other former governor.

Governor Oborevwori is diligently working towards fulfilling his responsibilities, and the names of cabinet nominees will be made public in due course. Oghenesivbe concluded his statement by assuring the public that there is no cause for concern. He firmly believes that there will be no discord between Oborevwori and Okowa, or any other past governor, by the grace of God.
