Oloye Highlights PDP’s Achievements, Faults Omo-Agege’s Allegations

ASABA/Nigeria: A member of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. (Chief) Pereotu Oloye, has criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the 2023 gubernatorial election, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, accusing him of misleading the public with false claims about the state’s development efforts.

Oloye, who represents Burutu II Constituency, reacted to Omo-Agege’s recent statement alleging that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had abandoned Burutu and Bomadi local government areas for over 25 years. The lawmaker dismissed the claim as a distortion of facts, describing it as a desperate attempt to remain politically relevant.

Reating to the statement,  Oloye expressed concern over Omo-Agege’s inability to move past the 2023 election, emphasizing that governance, not campaign rhetoric, should now take precedence. He argued that such false narratives should not be allowed to mislead the people.

“I must correct the notion that our great party, the PDP, has neglected Burutu and Bomadi. In reality, our party has implemented numerous projects and programs that have positively impacted the lives of our people in these areas and beyond. From infrastructure to social welfare initiatives, the PDP has worked tirelessly to improve the standard of living,” Oloye stated.

Highlighting key projects under Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration, Oloye pointed to the recently revised multi-billion naira Ayakoromo Bridge project, the Egodo-Ogbeingbene road, the Okerenkoko-Pepper-Ama-Kokodiagbene road, and the ongoing rehabilitation of the Bomadi-Gbaregolor and Bomadi-Ohoro roads. He also mentioned the scoping of the Torugbene-Ojobo road, emphasizing the government’s commitment to infrastructural development.

The lawmaker further accused Omo-Agege of hypocrisy, recalling that he was a prominent PDP member for years, benefiting from various appointments, including Commissioner and Secretary to the State Government, before defecting to the APC. He challenged the former Deputy Senate President to provide evidence of projects he attracted to Burutu and Bomadi during his tenure in the 9th Senate.

“Talk is cheap. Deltans are wiser than he thinks. Omo-Agege should stop misinforming the public to gain popularity. Development is a continuous process, and the Oborevwori administration remains committed to delivering more projects for the people,” Oloye asserted.

He assured his constituents of more dividends of democracy under the MORE agenda of Governor Oborevwori and urged them to remain vigilant against political deception while supporting the state government’s developmental strides.
