Omo-Agege Mourns Late Udu Monarch, Hails Legacy of Unity and Development

ABUJA/Nigeria: Deputy President of the Senate in the 9th Assembly, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has commiserated with the Urhobo nation and the people of Udu Kingdom over the passing of their revered monarch, His Royal Majesty, Barrister Emmanuel Bethel Otete Delekpe, Owhorhu I, who died at the age of 85.
In a condolence message signed by his Media Adviser, Sunny Areh, Senator Omo-Agege described the late Ovie of Udu as a formidable traditional ruler under whose reign the kingdom witnessed significant growth and development.
Senator Omo-Agege said the monarch distinguished himself through visionary leadership, showing that traditional rulers could be pivotal agents of progress in contemporary society.
“The royal father superintended over the evolution of Udu into a major kingdom where its sons and daughters excelled and contributed meaningfully to community development. It takes wisdom, humility, and eclectic management of human resources to bring a people together under a common agenda,” Omo-Agege stated.
He further described the late Owhorhu I as a father figure who commanded the loyalty and respect of his people, adding that his reign was marked by service, unity, and the promotion of communal harmony.
According to Omo-Agege, the monarch’s passing is a profound loss not only to Udu Kingdom but also to the entire Urhobo nation. He prayed for the peaceful repose of the royal father’s soul and for strength for his family and the people of Udu to bear the loss.
