Omo-Agege Pledges Inclusive Leadership, Party Reforms in Delta APC

PATANI/Nigeria: Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the former Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate and Delta State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has reaffirmed his commitment to fostering a more inclusive leadership structure within the party.

Addressing party leaders and members in Delta State, Omo-Agege assured that the APC would embrace a participatory approach to decision-making, ensuring that all stakeholders have a voice in shaping the party’s future.

Speaking at an interactive stakeholders’ meeting in Patani, attended by party members and leaders from across Delta State, Omo-Agege underscored the need for diverse perspectives in repositioning the APC for electoral success. “I don’t claim to have a monopoly on good ideas. It’s through conversations like these that we can come up with better solutions to move our party and state forward,” he said. The meeting formed part of his statewide thank-you tour, aimed at reviewing the party’s performance in the last elections, identifying lapses, and strategizing for the 2027 polls.

Acknowledging past missteps, Omo-Agege emphasized the importance of dialogue in strengthening the party. “We’ve made mistakes, but what’s important is that we’re engaging in stakeholder discussions. This is an opportunity for us to exchange ideas, learn from each other, and refine our strategies. We must work together to build a stronger, more united party that truly represents the interests of all Deltans.”

He commended APC members in Patani for their steadfast support despite facing intimidation from opposing forces. He expressed gratitude for their resilience, acknowledging the sacrifices they made, including physical attacks and harassment. “I sincerely thank you all for standing by me and our party. Your support is truly incredible, and I’m proud that you voted not just for me, but for our President, Senator, and House of Assembly candidate,” he said. He assured them that their concerns would be addressed to secure a decisive victory in 2027.

Omo-Agege also emphasized the crucial role of women in politics, pledging to strengthen their participation in the party. “Women are the backbone of our party and our communities. They play a crucial role in elections, and we must ensure they receive the support and recognition they deserve,” he stated. He promised that concerns raised by women leaders would be addressed to promote gender inclusivity within the APC.

Stressing the need for internal unity, Omo-Agege called on party members to work towards cohesion at the unit and ward levels, noting that internal crises would be resolved to position the APC as a formidable force in Delta State. “Political conflicts and internal crises are inevitable, but we must work through these challenges to strengthen our party. We must build bridges, foster dialogue, and promote understanding among our members,” he said.

He reassured loyal party members that their dedication would not go unnoticed, promising due recognition and rewards. “We will ensure that those who have worked tirelessly for our party are recognized and rewarded. Your perseverance and commitment to our shared vision will not be in vain,” Omo-Agege concluded.
