ASABA/Nigeria: Sir Monday Onyeme, the Deputy Governor of Delta State, has called on members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to remain united and committed to the party’s ideals. He made this appeal during a meeting with the Ndokwa Core Group, a political pressure group within the PDP, in Asaba.
Sir Onyeme expressed joy over the PDP’s victory in the state’s gubernatorial election and assured both the Ndokwa Core Group and all PDP members that the administration led by Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori would not disappoint the people of Delta State. He emphasized that despite the conclusion of the elections, party members should not become complacent but instead should strengthen their unity and commitment.
Regarding political appointments, the Deputy Governor acknowledged Governor Oborevwori’s meticulous approach to making appointments. He called on Deltans to be patient and to pray that the governor would continue to select capable individuals to work with him for the benefit of the state’s residents.
Sir Onyeme commended the Ndokwa Core Group for being a strong political entity and revealed that the group was initially formed to bring together elected and appointed political officeholders. Over time, like-minded individuals joined the group. He encouraged members to work harder and remain united in supporting the administration. He assured them that the people of Delta State would eventually reap the benefits of having a government focused on the welfare of its citizens.
Several individuals spoke at the gathering, including Rt. Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, the member-elect for Ndokwa Ukwuani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Charles Emetulu, a member of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Chukwudi Dafe, the member-elect for Ukwuani Constituency in the House of Assembly, Barr. Ernest Ogwezzy, Chief Fidelis Okoloafor, and others. They congratulated Sir Onyeme on assuming office as the Deputy Governor and pledged their support for the success of his administration.
Prominent members of the Ndokwa Core Group who attended the meeting included the Chairmen of the PDP in Ndokwa West, Ndokwa East, and Ukwuani, as well as elected and appointed officials from the region.
