ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Government has said that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s strides in infrastructure, security, and governance serve as the most effective response to critics and opposition elements in the state.
The State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, stated this on Thursday during an interview on AIT’s “Democracy Today,” monitored in Asaba.
Aniagwu emphasized that Governor Oborevwori remains focused on delivering on his four-point agenda rather than engaging in political distractions.
“Governor Oborevwori is concentrating on governance, and the people of Delta are seeing the results. That is why they confidently say, ‘Oborevwori dey show workings, nor be chor, chor, chor,'” Aniagwu said.
He challenged critics to visit any of the 25 local government areas to see the governor’s impact across various sectors, including education, housing, road infrastructure, and health.
“In every local government, we can point to something tangible the governor has done. Soon, we will break it down to even the political wards,” he added.
Aniagwu further stated that while some individuals choose to play politics, Governor Oborevwori is committed to fulfilling his mandate. He noted that many political actors have now aligned with the governor due to his impressive performance.
“Anytime, any day, we can show evidence of what Oborevwori is doing, while others engage in mere political rhetoric,” he said.
The commissioner also highlighted the governor’s role in fostering unity and resolving longstanding communal disputes, including the Aladja/Ogbe-Ijoh crisis and tensions in Ogwashi-Uku.
“Through proactive measures such as setting up commissions of inquiry, the governor has ensured lasting peace in areas previously marked by conflicts. This aligns with his agenda of meaningful development, opportunities for all, realistic reforms, and enhanced peace and security,” Aniagwu noted.
On security, he acknowledged concerns over kidnapping but said the state is addressing them through enhanced intelligence gathering and logistical support for security agencies.
“Governor Oborevwori has provided no fewer than 60 new Hilux vehicles to security operatives to boost their mobility and response time. The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, personally inaugurated some of these vehicles,” he revealed.
He assured Deltans that the administration remains committed to prudent resource management and continuous development across the state.
