Oscar Enya Ivara Takes Over as PRO at Tincan Island Port

LAGOS/Nigeria: Superintendent of Customs, Oscar Enya Ivara, has officially assumed the role of Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Tincan Island Port in Lagos, marking a new chapter in his distinguished career within the Nigeria Customs Service.

Born on April 6, 1978, in Abi Local Government Area of Calabar, Cross River State, Ivara holds a BSc in Business Administration from a university in Ogun State. Driven by a passion for continuous learning, he went on to earn a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, before completing his MSc in Customs Administration and Border Management at the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Ivara’s journey with the Nigeria Customs Service began in February 2009, when he joined as a cadet inspector. Over the years, he has held key positions in various commands, including Station Officer at the Bauchi/Gombe Area Command, Patrol Officer in the Enforcement Unit at Ogun 1 Area Command, and Public Relations Officer at both Bauchi/Gombe Area Command and Ikorodu Lighter Command. Prior to his appointment as the PRO of Tincan Island Port, he also served as the PRO at Area 1 Command Port Harcourt.

A member of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Ivara is known for his exceptional communication skills and strategic public relations expertise. His commitment to excellence and leadership has earned him several awards throughout his career, further solidifying his reputation as a dedicated and effective professional.

In a handing-over ceremony held at the Tincan Island Port Command on Friday, Ivara expressed his eagerness to make an impact in his new role. He succeeded SC Ngozi Okwara, and during his address, Ivara emphasized the importance of strong interpersonal relationships, which he plans to leverage to effectively engage with the media landscape in Lagos. He also outlined his strategy to collaborate closely with the Area Controller, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, to ensure that the activities of the Tincan Island Port Command remain relevant, transparent, and engaging for all port operators.

Ivara’s appointment comes at a pivotal time as the Nigeria Customs Service continues to strengthen its public outreach and engagement efforts, with an emphasis on building trust and accountability within the port sector.
