OGWASHI/Nigeria: The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has intensified its grassroots mobilisation in Delta State, with its Deputy Governorship Candidate, Mr Godwin Ossai, engaging party executives and political leaders in Aniocha South Local Government Area as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.

Ossai, who visited Ogwashi-Uku on Thursday, November 5, 2026, presented the proposed development vision of the party’s governorship candidate, Deacon Chris Iyovwaye, outlining how their proposed administration would pursue economic reforms and improved public services under the RESET Agenda.

Addressing members of the expanded executive committee and other party stakeholders, Ossai said the agenda was designed to move Delta State away from what the party considers ineffective governance and towards a development model driven by accountability, economic opportunities and improved living conditions.

He stressed that RESET was more than a political slogan, describing it as a practical development framework that would prioritise education, healthcare, agriculture, youth employment and rural infrastructure.

According to him, an NDC administration would focus on empowering farmers, supporting small businesses, improving road networks, providing access to clean water and creating sustainable employment opportunities for young people.

He also criticised what he described as the reliance on temporary financial handouts, including the distribution of ₦50,000 to youths, arguing that sustainable employment and economic empowerment should take precedence over short-term interventions.

Ossai further maintained that the proposed administration would pursue greater transparency and accountability in the management of public resources, insisting that Delta’s wealth should translate into tangible development for its residents rather than benefit a privileged few.

He called on party executives and leaders in Aniocha South to strengthen their internal organisation and maintain unity, describing the local government chapter as one of the most organised party structures he had encountered during his consultations across the state.

The deputy governorship candidate urged members to sustain their cohesion and commitment, stressing that a united party structure would be essential to achieving the NDC’s electoral objectives.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for the party to assess its grassroots readiness and consolidate relationships with its local leadership ahead of the next election cycle.

Ossai expressed confidence in the willingness of party members in Aniocha South to support the NDC’s political aspiration, declaring that the area was prepared to work towards ending the APC’s hold on power in Delta State.

The engagement forms part of the NDC’s wider mobilisation efforts across the state as Iyovwaye and Ossai seek to build support for their proposed RESET Agenda and position the party as an alternative in the 2027 governorship contest.

With political activities gradually gathering momentum, the ability of the NDC to translate its message into sustained grassroots organisation and wider voter support will be an important factor in determining its electoral prospects.
