ASABA/Nigeria: In a pivotal session on Tuesday, the Delta House of Assembly successfully screened and confirmed the nominees for key commissioner positions, which is crucial step towards strengthening the state’s administrative machinery.
The confirmed commissioners are Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza (Commissioner for Information), Ekemejero Ohwovoriole (Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice), and Kalanama Penawou (Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs).
State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, had previously submitted the trio’s names to the State House of Assembly, underscoring the importance of their roles in advancing the state’s development agenda. The plenary session, held yesterday and presided over by the Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, marked the culmination of a rigorous screening process that affirmed the qualifications and suitability of the appointees.
Notably, the confirmed commissioners were granted the rare privilege of taking a bow and exiting after the screening, a gesture symbolizing their esteemed contributions to the state. Majority Leader of the State Assembly, Hon Emeka Nwaobi, moved motions for the individual confirmation of each commissioner, and these were unanimously adopted through voice votes called by Speaker Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor.
Speaker Guwor commended the diligence and legislative acumen displayed by the Assembly members during the screening process. He urged the newly appointed commissioners to discharge their duties with utmost credibility, aligning with the M.O.R.E agenda of Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
The expansion of the cabinet is anticipated to bolster the government’s capacity to address the myriad challenges facing the state and reinforce its commitment to good governance.
