ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the optimal and competitive operation of its state-owned media establishments, despite the current economic difficulties facing the country.
This assurance was made by the Delta State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, during the budget defence of the Ministry’s proposed financial estimates for the 2025 fiscal year before the Ministry of Economic Planning.
Dr. Osuoza, who was accompanied by the management team of the Ministry and the heads of its parastatals, acknowledged the improvements in the operations of the state’s three media establishments since his appointment.
However, he noted several ongoing challenges, including inadequate equipment and logistical constraints that have limited their operational scope and hindered more efficient service delivery.
The Commissioner expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of the budget defence and extended his appreciation to the Commissioner for Economic Planning, Mr. Sunny Ekadeyan, and his team for their understanding and cooperation in addressing the critical budgeting issues concerning the Ministry of Information and its affiliated parastatals.
Dr. Osuoza assured that significant improvements would be made, particularly in enhancing the services and visibility of The Pointer Newspaper, one of the state’s key media outlets. He emphasised that the newspaper would receive more attention to fully realise its potential as a vital platform for public information.
Dr. Osuoza also expressed gratitude to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his unwavering support in keeping the state-owned media establishments operational and visible. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing critical assistance to these media houses and the Ministry of Information, ensuring they are well-positioned to effectively promote and communicate the successes of the M.O.R.E. Agenda to the people of Delta State.
