ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Commissioner for Special Duties (Government House), Dr. Ifeanyi M. Osuoza, has expressed deep sorrow over the sudden passing of renowned lawyer and political advocate, Barrister Jesutega Onokpasa, describing his death as a devastating loss that has left a painful void in the hearts of many.

In an emotional tribute, Dr. Osuoza, a long-time associate and confidant of the late Onokpasa, said the news of his death came as “a rude, unexpected shock,” adding that those who knew him closely are still “dumbfounded and in great disbelief.”

Barr. Onokpasa, who was widely known for his fearless intellect and robust commentary on national issues, was a prominent supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Osuoza described him as “a passionate and spirited intellectual who literally wore his heart on his sleeves,” noting that his authenticity stood out whether in private conversations or while engaging national and international audiences.

“He was bold and fearless, hard-working, dedicated, loyal, and completely committed to his political convictions,” Osuoza said. “Jesutega had an unwavering belief in the greatness of our dear Delta State and Nigeria. He championed his ideals with unmatched vigor and sincerity.”

Beyond his political activism, Onokpasa was praised for his personal virtues—his kindness, selflessness, and reliability. “He was a good man,” Osuoza reflected. “A selfless friend and confidant you could rely on—not just in times of need but in action and sacrifice. His passing is deeply personal and painful.”

The commissioner acknowledged the emotional impact of the loss on colleagues and friends across the country, describing the death as “sudden and jarring,” and one that will not be forgotten anytime soon. He extended prayers for strength to Onokpasa’s immediate family, urging them to take solace in the legacy of courage, intellect, and principle that he leaves behind.

“Rest in perfect peace, my dearest friend and brother,” Osuoza concluded, as he joined many others across Nigeria in mourning the departure of a man whose bold voice, unshakable loyalty, and moral conviction will continue to inspire even in death.
