ASABA/Nigeria: In a significant development, the Delta State information machinery received a fresh impetus as Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza assumed office as the state’s spokesman and Commissioner for Information on Monday, February 5, 2024.
Dr. Osuoza, formerly the Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was inaugurated by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori after receiving the nod from the state House of Assembly.
Upon resuming office, Dr. Osuoza wasted no time in outlining his priorities, committing the ministry, its staff, and its activities into divine hands. He specifically sought divine intervention for the effective propagation of the MORE Agenda, the state government’s comprehensive policy framework.
Addressing the staff members of the information ministry, Dr. Osuoza pledged to deepen the dissemination of the government’s policies, programs, and projects. He emphasized the importance of cooperation among staffers to realize the vision outlined for the ministry.
Furthermore, Dr. Osuoza expressed his commitment to improving synergy with image makers and journalists to counter fake news and speculations. He also announced plans to foster collaborations with other Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to highlight the achievements of Governor Oborevwori.
During the introduction by Mr. Lucky Omokri, the functioning Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr. Osuoza was welcomed to the directors and staff members of the ministry. Omokri expressed gratitude, anticipating the restoration of the information ministry to its place of pride under Dr. Osuoza’s leadership.
The State Council Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Churchill Oyowe, and NAWOJ’s Comrade Stella Macaulay congratulated the commissioner on his appointment and resumption. Their commendations echoed support for Dr. Osuoza’s capacity to lead the information ministry effectively.
A prayer session, led by Rev. Chucks Nwani, expressed gratitude for Dr. Osuoza’s emergence to lead the state’s information architecture. Rev. Nwani invoked divine enablement for the commissioner to discharge his duties efficiently. Drawing parallels to the biblical story of David, Nwani highlighted Dr. Osuoza’s boldness, resilience, and compassion.
However, Rev. Nwani urged the commissioner to lead with the fear of God, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a spiritual foundation in the office. He prayed for wisdom and understanding for Dr. Osuoza to steer the affairs of the ministry in line with the governor’s expectations.
In strong terms, Rev. Nwani also prayed against potential negative forces and influences that may attempt to hinder the commissioner’s goals and objectives. Similarly, the commissioner’s aunty, Mrs. Tina Okelue, prayed for his steadfastness and conduct that glorifies God throughout his tenure.
