Otuaro Urges Kingdoms to Cooperate With Government

UGHELLI/Nigeria: The Acting Governor of Delta State has called on communities and Kingdoms in the state to cooperate with the state government to ensure the sustenance of the gains already recorded, adding that plans to build a new Delta State of pride are progressing without distractions.
Barr. Kingsley Otuaro, made the call on Monday, 6th November, 2017, while presenting Staff of Office to His Royal Majesty, Odio Joseph Emasibeta Idiareh, the Odiologbo of Oyede Kingdom, and His Royal Majesty, Samson Owhe Ogugu 1, the Osuivie of Agbarho kingdom, of  Isoko North Local Government Area, and Ughelli North Local Government Area,  Delta State, respectively.
Barr. Otuaro, while Presenting staff of office to the two monarchs, said, the Senator Ifeanyi Okowa led administration has no interest in a candidate vying for any traditional stool. He added that, government believed in merit and transparency in all things, as the traditions and all cultural norms of the people must be respected at all times.
The acting governor, urged the people of the various kingdoms to take advantage of the various openings in government policies and programmes, to improve on their production capacities and add value to their harvests.
Barr. Otuaro, who noted that, Oyede Kingdom is well known for its abundant production of cassava, yam and other crops, including fish, called on sons and daughters of Agbarho Kingdom, within the country and abroad, to come home and contribute their quota to the economic and overall development of their community and the state.

According to him, government alone cannot satisfy every need and aspiration but will continue to deploy due diligence and accountability in ensuring that, the lean resources available will be deployed to areas that will make Delta State a better place for all.
While congratulating His Royal Majesty, Odio Joseph Emasibeta Idiareh on his appointment and recognition as the Odiologbo of Oyede Kingdom, and His Royal Majesty, Samson Owhe Ogugu 1, as the Osuivie of Agbarho Kingdom, the acting Governor appealed to them to discharge their responsibilities in a transparent manner by being fair and just to all their subjects.

His words: “As custodian of the tradition of your people, it is important that you do not in words or action, give cause to your subjects to doubt your ability to uphold the sanctity of their traditional norms. I sincerely appeal to you to imbibe the democratic virtues of dialogue and consultation in all your dealings with everyone that needs your attention”. The acting Governor stated.

While noting that, government takes security of lives and property in the state seriously, Barr. Otuaro, on commending royal fathers in the state for their exceptional contributions towards the sustenance of peace and stability in state, urged the two new monarchs to join hands with the state government and security agencies to maintain peace and tranquility in their communities.

He urged the people of the two kingdoms  to strive to promote the integrity of the stools by according the royal fathers the respect and honour they truly deserve, noting that government have listened to the various request by  both kingdoms and assured that their demands will be passed on to the relevant agencies of government, where they will receive the necessary attention.

Earlier, in an address, the Oyede community, appealed to the state government for more dividends of democracy by way of infrastructural facilities like roads, schools and health care centers.

Also the community appealed that more of the youths be given opportunities in the various job creation and skill acquisition programmes of government.
In his Response, His Royal Majesty, Ajuwe, Samson Owhe Ogugu 1, the Osuivie of Agbarho Kingdom, said the Okowa campaign promises vision and slogan has seen limelight to a great extent.

The royal majesty who noted that the Okowa administration has blocked all leakages, made corruption unattractive and ensured prudent management and accountability to attract investors, caution youths in the kingdom to shun all act of hostilities and harassment.

The Ogugu 1, warned that, the kingdom will not fold its arms and watch any form of hooliganism and breach of peace in the community, adding that youths in the kingdom should allow investors and developers to go about their lawful business without any form of molestation in the kingdom.

While on behalf of the Agbarho Kingdom, Brig. Gen. (Chief) Dominic Oneya (rtd) , expressed appreciation to the state government for its support to the Agbarho people.

Brig. Gen. Oneya assured of Agbarho kingdom continuous support to the state government in the pursuance of peace and security, and maintenance of even development in the state.
