Oyo State Government Cracks Down on Non-Compliant Banks and Telcos in Ibadan

IBADAN/Nigeria: In a move to bolster revenue collection, the Oyo State Government has taken decisive action against commercial banks and telecommunications companies within the Ibadan metropolis. The enforcement operation was led by the Ministry of Lands, Housing, and Urban Development’s Director of Land Use Charge, Esv. Olufisayo Ogunbiyi.

The crackdown, which involved sealing off certain establishments, was prompted by their failure to adhere to their financial obligations to the state government. According to Esv. Olufisayo Ogunbiyi, notices had been previously served to these businesses, warning them of the impending enforcement.

Esv. Ogunbiyi emphasized that once the overdue Land Use Charge payments were settled, the affected premises would be reopened for business operations. He underlined the government’s unwavering commitment to enforcing its policies and urged all business owners to promptly fulfill their financial obligations to prevent disruptions.

Highlighting the state government’s determination to combat non-compliance, the Director of Land Use Charge urged residents to contact the Ministry through the dedicated hotline, 0700 OYO LANDS (070069652637), or via email at lands@oyostate.gov.ng for inquiries.

To streamline the payment process, rate payers can visit pay.lands.oyostate.gov.ng for Land Use Charge payments. Additionally, an online payment option is available through the Oyo State Property Reference System (OYPRS), which can be downloaded from Google Play Store or the App Store. This application helps identify outstanding land use charges and facilitates online payments.

The enforcement team comprised Land Officers and representatives of Private Networks Nigeria Ltd, the IGR Consultant for the Ministry of Lands, Housing, and Urban Development. As the crackdown continues, business owners are urged to comply with the state’s financial regulations to ensure the uninterrupted operation of their enterprises.
