IBADAN/Nigeria: The Oyo State Government has organized an induction workshop for the 33 Local Government Supervisory Councillors and Special Assistants across the state, aimed at enhancing their understanding of modern trends in local government administration.
The workshop, which took place over the weekend at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, was attended by key local government officials from all 33 local government areas in the state.
Governor Seyi Makinde, represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Ademola Ojo, emphasized the importance of the workshop in equipping the participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in their roles. He urged the newly appointed officials to be agents of change in their respective councils, encouraging them to strive for excellence in their duties to facilitate development across all sectors.
Hon. Ojo expressed his satisfaction with the significant progress Oyo State has made under Governor Makinde’s leadership, attributing the state’s advancement in peace, progress, and tranquility to the governor’s outstanding qualities. He called on the appointees to view their new roles as a call to serve with integrity, credibility, and unwavering commitment, aligning with the administration’s focus on quality service delivery and extending the dividends of democracy to the grassroots.
The Commissioner also advised the participants to take full advantage of the training modules provided, which were carefully designed to enhance their governance capabilities.
The workshop marks a crucial step in ensuring that local government officials in Oyo State are well-prepared to meet the demands of their roles, contributing to the state’s ongoing development.
