WARRI/Nigeria: Parents and guardians have been told to encourage their children and wards in the development their sporting-talents.
The principal of Otor-Udu Secondary School, Otor-Udu, headquarters of Udu Local Government Area, in Delta State, Mrs Florence Okpakpor made the call in her address during the school’s inter-house sports competition held last Thursday.
According to her, “Sporting activities are very important in human life because it increases the physical well being of an individual”, adding: “It is also discovered that the students, through sports show-case their talents.”
According to Mrs. Okpakpor, “The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education made it mandatory for all schools to participate in inter-house sporting events; this clearly shows that Delta State is a sport-loving state.”
The principal called on patrons and guests present to give helping hand in the school’s quest to acquire sporting equipment ranging from goal posts, trophies, javelin and shot-put, among others.
Red House came first followed by White House which took second position while Blue House was third and Yellow House fourth.
