PDP Chieftain Commends Governor Obaseki’s Timely Reconciliation with Deputy

ASABA/Nigeria: Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, a Communication Strategist and prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has lauded the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, for his swift reconciliation with his deputy, Comrade Philip Shuaibu. Oghenesivbe emphasized that the prolonged conflict between the two leaders had become an unwelcome blemish on the PDP’s reputation.

The PDP Chieftain stated this In a recent radio program in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

The reconciliation, which has been viewed as a crucial development within the party, was warmly acknowledged by Oghenesivbe during the program. He underscored the significance of Edo State as an integral component of Delta’s political landscape, highlighting that former Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, along with other key stakeholders, had actively supported Governor Obaseki and Shuaibu during the 2020 elections in Edo State, to secure a resounding victory.

Oghenesivbe expressed his concerns about the discord between Obaseki and Shuaibu, especially with the approaching Edo governorship election. He commended Deputy Governor Shuaibu for his display of humility in apologizing to Governor Obaseki, a move that was well-received within the Delta PDP family.

Turning his attention to Delta State, Oghenesivbe, who served as the Delta PDP campaign spokesperson during the 2023 general elections, discussed the various tribunal judgments. He confidently stated that petitions that had been resolved in favor of the PDP, including those related to House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, and Governorship elections, were likely to be upheld at the Appellate Courts. He attributed this expectation to compelling evidence and a lack of substance in the petitions from the appellants.

He reflected on the prayer and efforts put into ensuring reconciliation between Governor Obaseki and Deputy Governor Shuaibu, stating, “We fasted and prayed for speedy reconciliation between Governor Obaseki of Edo State and his Deputy, Comrade Philip Shuaibu. The disagreement was obviously unhealthy, but God stepped in, and it’s all over for good.”

In reference to the 2020 collaboration between Delta and PDP structures in Edo State, Oghenesivbe emphasized the historical ties between the two states, both originating from the defunct Bendel State. He spoke of the need for continued cooperation and partnership to strengthen the political influence of both states and ensure victory against political detractors and opposition parties. Oghenesivbe pledged that the two states would unite once again in 2024 to secure a triumphant win for the PDP in Edo State.

Discussing Delta’s achievements in the tribunal, Oghenesivbe pointed out the significant victory in the governorship election, where Governor Oborevwori and the PDP emerged victorious in three post-election cases on a single day. He expressed confidence that these landmark tribunal victories would be upheld at the Appellate Courts, and in cases requiring reruns, the PDP would secure resounding victories.

Oghenesivbe concluded by affirming the commitment of Governor Oborevwori and the PDP to their M.O.R.E agenda, ensuring that opposition parties would once again be relegated to the sidelines for another monumental PDP victory in Delta State at the end of the administration’s first tenure.
