ASABA/Nigeria: Olorogun Barr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, the immediate past Executive Assistant on Communications to the Delta State Governor, has through a statement addressed claims made by a group regarding the incumbent State Governor, Rt Hon (Elder) Sheriff Francis Oborevwori as a stooge of former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, asserting that Governor Oborevwori is not a stooge to anybody, including the immediate past governor.
The group in question alleged that Governor Oborevwori is meant to implement the third term agenda of Senator Okowa and that the delay in the release of political appointments is due to Okowa scrutinizing the list to ensure his loyalists and trusted kinsmen are strategically positioned in the current administration. Oghenesivbe dismisses these claims, stating that Governor Oborevwori has shown good leadership qualities through his actions, inactions, and spoken words. He also emphasizes the governor’s commitment to respect and adhere to the doctrine of separation of powers.
Oghenesivbe highlights Governor Oborevwori’s six-year tenure as Speaker of the State House of Assembly, during which he led the House to enact laws that had a positive impact on the people of Delta State. He believes that those accusing the governor of being a stooge or an implementor of Okowa’s third-term agenda are loyal to the main opposition party and its leaders.
Furthermore, Oghenesivbe commends Senator Okowa for ensuring power rotation in the state and asserts that Governor Oborevwori will serve for eight years to represent Delta Central. He criticizes the allegations made against the governor as ridiculous, unacceptable, crazy, and unfounded. He assures that appointments will be based on merit and wide consultations to ensure the best brains are appointed to work with the governor.
Oghenesivbe urges patience and support for Governor Oborevwori, emphasizing that he has never been a stooge and will not be subservient to any past governor or stakeholders. He also emphasizes the governor’s intention to maintain cordial relationships with past governors and recognize their interests as major stakeholders in government and the PDP. He calls on citizens to support the governor’s administration for the advancement of Delta State in socioeconomic and infrastructure development.
