ABUJA/Nigeria: In a decisive effort to bolster internal cohesion and discipline within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the National Working Committee (NWC) has established the National Reconciliation Committee and the National Disciplinary Committee. This move, sanctioned by the National Executive Committee (NEC), marks a pivotal step in addressing reconciliation and disciplinary matters within the party.
The announcement was made in a statement signed by Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the National Publicity Secretary, on Friday, August 16, 2024. The statement underscored the significance of these committees in the PDP’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its structure and operations.
The inauguration of both committees is scheduled for Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 12 noon at the NEC Hall, National Secretariat, Abuja. The committees comprise distinguished members with extensive experience in governance, legal practice, and party affairs, ensuring that their mandates will be executed with the highest level of diligence and fairness.
High Chief Tom Ikimi has been appointed as the Chairman of the National Disciplinary Committee, alongside prominent figures such as H.E. Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau and Chief Olabode George, CON. This committee is entrusted with upholding the party’s principles by addressing any disciplinary breaches, thereby protecting the integrity of the PDP.
Meanwhile, the National Reconciliation Committee, led by H.E. Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, will focus on fostering unity and resolving internal conflicts within the party. The committee includes experienced politicians like Rt. Hon. Chibudom Nwuche and Sen. Tunde Ogbeha, who will work diligently to ensure that the PDP remains united and aligned with its strategic goals.
