OLEH/Nigeria: The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has won the Isoko South Constituency 1, By-Election, conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, was held on Saturday September 11, to fill the vacant seat due to the death of the Hon Kenneth Edafe Ogba.
The election which conducted in Oleh wards 1and 2, Emede ward 5 and Irri wards 10 and 11, in Isoko south constituency 1.
It was reported to have recorded a large turnout of voters, while one person was said to have been shot dead in Irri, and another injured in a ballot-box related violence.
Announcing the election result in Oleh, the INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Christopher Onosemuode, said the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ovuakpoye Evivie, polled 6,907 votes to defeat the APC candidate, Dr. Ogaga Ifowodo, who secured 1,301 votes,, and the Social Democratic Party candidate, Emumena Michael, who polled 1,291 votes.
Prof Onosemuode, therefore, declared Mr. Ovuakpoye Evivie winner of the by-election and returned him elected.
