Petrol Fire Explosion Kills One, Another in Critical Condition in Sapele

SAPELE/Nigeria: It was the case of an expensive mistake that took the life of a boy and placed his sister in critical condition at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH).

The mother of the Children concerned bought petrol popularly referred to as “fuel” that she intended to use to burn bush for farming.

Unknown to her children, according to report, they thought it was kerosene prompting one of them to fill the petrol in a lantern and as she struck a matchstick, the lantern exploded and in the process, she threw away the lantern from herself only for it to land on the body of her brother.

Both of them were burnt severely, unfortunately, two days later, it was reported that the boy died.

Our correspondents reported that the girl was still at UBTH battling for her live, whose family, it was learnt is the Ayomanors, a popular family in Sapele.

It was also learn that the father of the children died two years ago. The boy that died is known as Godwin while the girl, a student of Chude’s Girls Model School Sapele is battling for her life.

The family is in dire need of support from any quarter as the mother of the children involved in the explosion is said to be a petty farmer
