AGBOR/Nigeria: The Dr. Philomena Onoyona Foundation, committed to education and community development, recently visited Alidinma Mixed Secondary School in Agbor Alidinma, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, donating learning materials worth thousands of naira to students.
Speaking after the donation, Dr. Philomena Onoyona, the foundation’s founder, reaffirmed its mission to inspire hope and transform lives. She emphasized the importance of nurturing young learners to achieve the global vision of sustainable development, noting that education is a cornerstone for producing future leaders.
“Our visit to Alidinma Mixed Secondary School and the donation of learning materials reflect our dedication to raising academically strong and well-informed youths who will meet the leadership needs of our nation and compete favorably with their counterparts abroad,” Onoyona said.
She outlined the foundation’s commitment to empowering students through the provision of essential educational materials, including school bags, books, pens, and pencils, adding that such initiatives would be extended to other schools in Delta State and beyond. Onoyona, a Nigerian-born U.S.-based social worker and advocate, urged well-meaning Nigerians to support her quest to uplift underprivileged youths from poverty and illiteracy.
“Equipping students with the tools needed to excel academically and inspire a brighter future remains our collective responsibility,” she concluded.
In recognition of their leadership, the foundation presented awards to the school’s principal and vice principal.
As part of the visit, the foundation also paid a courtesy call to the Oriri of Alidinma Kingdom, Chief Godwin Ehikwe. During the royal visit, prayers of blessing were offered for the foundation and its representatives, underscoring the community’s appreciation for their impactful contributions.
The event was graced by distinguished delegates, including Mr. Dennis Ehikwe, Mr. Solomon Ehikwe, Barrister Augustina Odunna, Mr. Hilary Ehikwe, and Mrs. Ezepue Fidelia, who reinforced the shared commitment to education and community upliftment.
