“Please” Return Back To Us, Ofobruku Appeals To SPDC

EFFURUN/Nigeria: The member representing the good people of Uvwie Constituency at the Delta State House of Assembly Hon. Efe Ofobruku has sent out a passionate appeal to the management of Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), urging them to return back to the oil city.

Hon. Efe Ofobruku

The lawmaker who made the plea while delivering his goodwill message during the inauguration of the professorial Chair for Lightweight Automobile Engine Development at Federal University of Petroleum Resources, (FUPRE) Effurun, Delta State by the Shell Petroleum Development Company, stated that the people of the region has learnt from their past misdemeanours and Warri, Effurun and it’s environs are now at their most peaceful state in history.

The pace setting lawmaker who is fondly called the “Uvwie Messenger” by his plethora of admirers, added that most times people don’t know what they have until it’s lost, and this is a lesson the people of Warri and Uvwie has learnt, albeit in a very bitter way.

“Our people today are regretting every action they took that contributed to the relocation of the SPDC alongside other multinational companies away from our lands and if given a second chance, I am certain they will do things differently.

Today we are losing out not just on the chunk of revenue that was hitherto accruable to us before the crisis but most importantly the developmental strides as well and these are the factors that has necessitated me to make this plea.
It’s not too late for the management of the company to take the decision and relocate back to the area, for before the advent of the Warri crisis, we have been a great host and I am assuring them that we (the people of Uvwie) will be an even better host should they decide to return, the lawmaker stated.

The Uvwie messenger rounded up by commending the dedication of the company towards education, as the inauguration of the FUPRE Professorial Chair for Lightweight Automobile Engine Development was in line with Gov. Okowa’s smart agenda and appealed to SPDC to do more for the state’s other higher institutions.
