Police Nap Suspect Who Burgles Egugbo’s Residence

ASABA/Nigeria: The Police has nabbed one of the suspected burglars terrorising the residence of Comrade Fidelis Egugbo, DELTA State Government House Chief of Bureau of The Pointer Newspaper.

After series of raids at the residence of the Journalist in Asaba, in the early hours of Friday, 25 January, 2019, the Police responded to a distress call which necessitated the recovery of some of the items used by the burglars who raided the residence on that day.

Comrade Egugbo had said the presence of the thieves was noticed at about 3 am on that fateful Friday morning following the sound of something that dropped, apparently, his Generator Set dropped from the fence and on coming out, noticed that the thieves had also, removed the battery of his car.

According to Egugbo, “God never fails; it has become embarrassing to be reporting regularly that my house was attacked by thieves.”

“They have collected my laptop, phones, generator sets, jewelleries and other valuables at different occasions, but, what can we do?” he rhetorically asked, adding, “after every attack, we took measures to boost the security, people have come to our aids in different ways, especially, through prayers, and, it is a thing of joy that one of the thieves have been apprehended and we hope that with the interest of the Police in carrying out a thorough job, others will be apprehended and stolen items recovered.”

Comrade Egugbo said, “The Police control room responded promptly despite the fact that it was very early in the morning and the operation team led by one ASP Ralph Ejairu of Team 017, Koka Junction led to actions that necessitated the arrest of the suspect.”

“It is worthy to state that the Police at the Akwuofu Police Post have also displayed professionalism in their job and are working seriously to unravel the mysteries behind the several raids and recover stolen items,” Comrade Egugbo said.

Dependable Police sources stated that the arrested suspect is not the kingpin and the informant who are still at large.

Attempts to speak with the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Andrew Aniamaka has not yielded results as he failed to pick his calls but, reliable sources revealed that the suspect who has not denied the crime is singing like the cannery at the Akwuofu Police Post, Asaba.
