ASABA/Nigeria: In a decisive move to forestall examination malpractice and security breaches, the Delta State Police Command has activated a comprehensive, intelligence-led security framework ahead of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), deploying operatives across all accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres in the state.
The directive was contained in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, outlining the Command’s readiness under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, to ensure a secure and hitch-free exercise scheduled from Thursday, April 16 to Saturday, April 25, 2026.
According to the statement, police operatives have been strategically deployed to all 31 CBT centres across Delta State, with a clear mandate to prevent any attempt to compromise the integrity of the examination conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
CP Oyeniyi has directed all Area Commanders overseeing jurisdictions with CBT centres to take full responsibility for security within their domains, ensuring strict supervision of personnel, sustained visibility policing, and rapid response to any emerging threats.
The Command also emphasised the need for close coordination among Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Commanders, and examination officials, with particular focus on intelligence gathering and the protection of critical ICT infrastructure at the centres.
In a stern warning, the Police reiterated that examination malpractice, impersonation, and any form of disorderly conduct will not be tolerated, stressing that offenders will be promptly arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Candidates were advised to comply strictly with examination guidelines, conduct themselves responsibly, and arrive early at their designated centres to avoid unnecessary delays or suspicion.
Reassuring residents of adequate security, the Commissioner of Police affirmed the Command’s commitment to the protection of lives and property throughout the examination period, while calling on members of the public to remain vigilant and provide credible, timely information to security agencies.
For emergencies or to report suspicious activities, the public has been urged to contact the Command Control Room via 08036684974.
The Command also wished all candidates a successful and incident-free examination exercise, reiterating its resolve to ensure that law and order prevail across all centres.
