ONICHA-UGBO/Nigeria: As Muslims in Nigeria today celebrate Eid- il- Fitri, Chief Iman at Onicha Ugbo Central Mosque, Onicha Ugbo, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, Addul Ajanukpa has appealed to political leaders to show mercy on the masses and improve their standard of living.
The Iman, who made the plea while briefing the press shortly after the prayer session to mark the 2023 Eid- il- Fitri at Onicha Ugbo, said that it was necessary for political leaders in the country to lead by example by ensuring that Nigerians’ unity was not negotiable.
He affirmed that the Arewas in Aniocha North, particularly those living at Onicha Ugbo co-habits peacefully with their host community, adding that Nigerians should see themselves as one indivisible family.
He lauded the Obi of Onicha Ugbo, Obi Victor Chukwumalieze for hospitality, and assured that they would continue to support him and his subjects.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Hausa Community in Onicha Ugbo, Alhaji Muhammed Abdullahi, disclosed that they had been enjoying robust relationships with the natives and other residents, adding that they would strive to sustain it.
He, however, stated that they used the occasion to demonstrate love to one another and prayed that Allah would guide the youths to shun violence and other social vices.
