Politicians Enjoined To Play Politics With The Fear Of God

OREROKPE/Nigeria: Politicians have been enjoined to bring their faith into politics and play it with the fear of God by being people of truth, peace and love at all time.
This advice was given by the Majority leader of the Ethiope West legislative Arm, Hon. Aghogho Green Meretin at the St. John Anglican Church Orerokpe during the Thanksgiving Service to mark the tenth year anniversary of the creation of the Sapele Diocese of the Anglican Communion and Investiture of knight and Dames of St. Christopher and St. Mary respectively.
Sir (Hon.) Meretin who was one of the candidates invested with the title of St. Christopher alongside his wife, urged all Christians who are into politics to bring the fear of God into politics for them to see the beauty of politics, saying that “we cannot abstain from politics but when you play politics, play it in the way of God and as politician your word should be your bond”.
Sir (Hon.) Aghogho Green Meretin who also is the Vice President National Councilors Forum of Nigeria charged all politicians especially Christian politicians to do whatever they find their hand doing, very well, pointing out that “do it with all your might do it very well because there is always a reward for doing the work of God”.
He called on brethren of the Anglican Diocese of Sapele to please bury whatever grievances they have and come together as one as there is no division in the body of Christ.
In a sermon delivered by the Bishop of the Sabon-Gida Ora Diocese of the Anglican Communion Bishop Augustine Ehilebo, he charged the knights and Dame to be committed to their calling and not to disappoint the Church.
Bishop Ehilebo enjoined them to keep the good work they’ve been known for as their calling does not make them better than any other but their investiture as knights and Dames is just a calling.
The Bishop told the congregation to see the hand of God in the Ten year of the creation of Sapele Diocese and that it is the lord’s doing, he prayed that God will bring about restoration and joy and men will see the effect in the Diocese.
Bishop Ehilebo charged the congregation further to let heaven be their focus and that they should put their heart, mind and hands together since heaven is their focus.
Before investiture ceremony of the new knight and Dames, the visiting Bishop reminded them that as knight and Dame they are soldiers of Christ and so must run the race with all vigour, urging them not to allow their life to be a problem to the people outside but to join hands with the church to pull people from the kingdom of darkness.
Speaking further he averred that they must be apostle in word and indeed and that they must be strong in prayer and not see other brothers as enemy as the common enemy is the devil. They must be humble and speak the truth always, and should be supporters of the work of Christ and generous givers.
Bishop Ehilebo asked all to allow Christ to be the cornerstone of their life, saying let nothing else be the cornerstone of your life but unity of the body of Christ, Stressing that “ if you build your life on something else without Jesus Christ you are building on a marshy land”.
The highpoint of the event was the investiture of knights and Dames of St. Christopher and St. Mary respectively by the Bishop of the Diocese of Sapele Anglican Communion His lordship; Rt Rev. (Dr.) Blessing Erifeta (JP).
Among those who were honour with the titled of  Knights and Dames are Sir (Hon.) & Dame (Mrs.) Aghogho Green Meretin, the Wife of the Bishop Mrs. Erifeta was also present at the ceremony including the chancellor of the diocese Sir Barr. Ataine.
