ASABA/Nigeria: The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has given a two-week ultimatum to the federal government to rescind its decision barring HND graduates from aspiring beyond level 14.
The association, who made this position known through its Director of Mobilization and Strategic Engagement, Dio Oghale Emeka, said that upon the expiration of ultimatum, it would not hesitate to use all kind measures to ensure victory was attained.
Quoting the Head of Service of the Federation, Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita, Oghale Emeka, stated “While we still battle with lingering strike affecting us as students, of which one of the major reasons ASUP went on strike is in regards to the dichotomy of the Polytechnic graduates and that of the University, the federal government through the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita has added more salt to our injuries. Her publication which stated that Higher National Diploma graduates cannot rise above level 14 except such a person acquires an additional degree for his or her conversion to officers’ cadre that terminates at Grade Level 17 sounds so ungodly and alarming.”
According to Emeka, the leadership of NAPS would not fold her hands and watch Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita and the federal government spit on them, saying that the association had lost confidence on the present administration.
